Chapter 3: Living with my Grandparents

We had to live with my grandparents for a while, not too long after I was born. I don’t really remember this time because I was so young but I do remember sleeping with my Pop during afternoon naps and my Nan taking me for walks in the forest across the road from her house.

I honestly believe that spending this time with them when I was so little, as well as the close relationship we have had while I grew up, has created such a strong bond between us. I look up to my Nan and Pop as if they are a second set of parents to me. They have always been supportive of my dreams and my passions. I can’t imagine not being this close with them.

My Nan has always been so compassionate, intelligent, and so funny. She was the coolest Nan I ever knew because she was a gamer (before her epilepsy and arthritis got too bad). She absolutely LOVED Silent Hill and Resident Evil, but also Yoshi and Spiro. She bakes like noone else I know and will always have something to feed you with. She’s been through so much in her life and she has always gotten through it. She has been a role model to me for my whole life.

My Pop has always been so loving, funny, and adventurous. I think I get my sense of adventure from him.. He does whatever he can to take care of me and everyone, especially my Nan. He loves camping and fishing, and I love watching him get so excited when he talks about it. He can build a boat from scratch, he can rebuild an engine, and he never even finished primary school. He has a story for every occasion and always knows how to make you smile.

I have a special bond with both of them and I am so blessed to have them in my life.

After staying with them for a while, we then moved into the flat downstairs where we had my first birthday party. I remember riding my toy car down the hallway then falling off and crying..

Other than my first birthday I remember hurting my toe. I didn’t remember how, but mum told me I dropped a bottle on it. Now my toenail is shaped weird and is hard to cut – don’t judge me :/

I also remember singing the ABC’s with mum too. I find it really strange how much of my earlier life I can actually remember. Let me know if any of you remember anything from your early childhood in the comments!

There are so many photo’s of me (some that actually include my mother) having so much fun; just her and I… but the next chapter of our life is better.

Stay tuned…
