Hi! I’m Ashlee. It’s so nice to see you here.
I’m a Master’s Student of Cultural Heritage and travel adviser living in Southeast Queensland. In January of 2014 I started a personal blog about Hashimotos Thyroiditis (one of the chronic conditions that I live with) and news from the archaeology world, called Hypothyroid Archaeologist.
I realised quickly that my passion truly lay in travel and providing awareness to the public regarding respecting the natural and cultural heritage in the world when travelling. I decided to share my passion and my personal experiences with the internet. In August of 2014 The Heritage Travels began. I’ve since combined my Heritage Travels Blog and personal blog into one and here we are.
Rather than worrying about how many people view my blog, I prefer to concern myself with how many people learn something from me. Even if one person learns how precious it is to protect and admire our heritage, to live more sustainably, to end the stigma of mental health or invisible illness, or to just find the joy in their life again, then I consider this a success.
As I have already mentioned, I am a heritage tourism advocate, with a love for sustainable and responsible tourism. I lived in the beautiful Tropical North Queensland of Australia for 10 years, and now I am back in my small hometown in Southeast Queensland. I have been studying tourism, travel, and cultural heritage for quite some time, and spent 5 years as a travel adviser, which I have absolutely loved. I’m passionate about sustainable tourism, specifically regarding heritage and animals. I love adventure, all things culture and heritage, travel (of course), and nature. I find comfort in good music, good books and good entertainment! I plan to share all of these things and more.
